Darlyn's short story,"Shame," was critiqued in 2004 by visiting author Sena Jeter Naslund in Connie May Fowler's Winter With the Writers master class at Rollins College.
Darlyn's short story, "Wings" appeared in the collection Shifting Gears in 2002.
Her short story "Black Eyed Susan" was published in the e-litmag Dead Mule School of Southern Literature.
Darlyn's poem "Slumming" won Honorable Mention in the Thomas Burnett Swann Poetry Contest, and was published in the literary magazine Revelry.

In 2004, the Festival awarded Darlyn second prize in creative nonfiction for her short story, "Valentine and Buster."
